ACTIVITIES
<p class="rteBlock">Adults can participate in swimming sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings. Swimmers can learn how to swim, improve their technique or train for fitness. The coaches can individualise the programmes to cater for varying abilities and goals. On Tuesday evenings and Saturday mornings, there is an aqua fitness session. It is an enjoyable blend of aqua exercises.</p>
<p class="rteBlock">We offer 7 levels of squad training starting with Mini squad, Mini’s. Swimmers must be able to swim at least 25m Freestyle and 25m Backstroke with good technique. The main objective of Mini squad is improve their Freestyle and Backstroke efficiency and fitness. Mini’s also learn how to squad train – lane etiquette, team work, reading the clock and starts. Mini’s can train every afternoon after school and during the school holidays. A mini squad session is 30 minutes.</p><p class="rteBlock">Lasers and Bullets will learn Breaststroke, Butterfly, Medleys, Starts, Turns, Finishes, the Clock, swim training cycles and various training intervals. Swimmers can train in these groups for fun, fitness or competition. Lasers and Bullets train every afternoon after school and during the school holidays for at least 45 minutes.</p>
Senior Squads–
<p class="rteBlock">Swimmers will enhance their technique and fitness in Freestyle, Backstroke, Butterfly and Breaststroke. Swimmers will work towards their various goals whether it is for competition or fitness. Senior squad training starts from 4pm after school and there is also early morning training on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.</p><p class="rteBlock">Contact us to find out more!</p>
The Cannonvale Swim Centre is located at the Cannonvale State School. The Cannonvale Swim Centre is heated and is open all year round. The swim centre is very fortunate to have highly qualified and experienced swim teachers and coaches.
The Cannonvale Swim Centre offers private and small group learn to swim lessons, squad training and an aqua fitness class. The swim centre also offers school holiday swimming activities.
The Cannonvale Swim Centre is very proud to be the home of the Cannonvale Cannons Swimming Club. The Cannonvale Cannons Swimming Club hosts their Club Nights on Wednesday nights during the main swim season. The Cannonvale Cannons Swimming Club and Whitsunday Masters Swim Club host their annual swim carnivals at the Cannonvale Swim Centre.
The swim coaches can cater for varying abilities and goals. The coaching team have prepared swimmers for ocean swims eg English Channel, Magnetic Island to Townsville, Whitehaven Beach and Airlie Beach Triathlon festival. They have also prepared swimmers for the swim legs of triathlons and Ironman events.
Mark Erickson and Ken Crittenden coached competitive swimmers to regional, state and national championships. Swimmers have not only qualified for these championships, but they have made it into finals and medalled. Mark coached Margaret Cunningham, Masters swimmer for over 15 years.
Margaret set numerous Queensland, Australian and World records. A couple of years ago, Margaret was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame.
Joining a squad is a fantastic way to have fun in the water while building your skills as a swimmer. You can learn and use different swimming techniques that will improve your efficiency and fitness.
